4. Imagine that you have come back after a 10 day school trip to Delhi. Write a letter to your friend briefly explaining the places you visited.

Date : …………

Bangalore

Dear Bubloo,

It is long since I have wished to write a letter to you but couldn’t due to my busy schedule with studies, tuitions and of course, the trip! You know, day before yesterday I came back from a long 10 days trip from Delhi! It was a wonderful trip which reminded me of our history lessons. We were a group of 25 members, accompanied by 4 teachers. The journey to and fro was in Rajdhani express and we enjoyed the long days in train.

Since it is December, we were advised to carry sweaters but even then we couldn’t bear the chill weather!! The most memorable place we visited is of course, the Taj Mahal in Agra. It was a breathtaking experience. No one could ever doubt the love of Shahjahan to Mumtaz after seeing such a monument! Connaught place and Red Fort also were mesmerizing. If ever get a chance, once again I would like to visit Delhi for its majestic roads and monumental buildings that have carved a niche for themselves.

How are you and your parents? Hope all are doing fine. Do visit us sometime in April. We can have some good moments together. Convey my regards to your parents. Hope you will reply soon. Till then, bye.

Yours

Dear Akash / Akanksha,

I got your news yesterday from Amar that your are not well now. I am sorry to listen to this. I was hoping you to be together in the picnic that we had only two days ago.

The picnic was a grand successful one All the teachers including the headmaster were present and they enjoyed a lot. They enter tained us by letting us play different games. They advised us to do many things and they led us to visit many places. We ate all the wild nuts and fruits. All cooking staffs were busy in cooking and we were free to roam through the forests around the picnic spot. We saw many types of birds and plants, our science teacher informed us a lot about the plants. All the students were excited to know many things.

At about 8 ‘o’ clock we had breakfast and tea. And at 2 o’ clock we ate lunch. After the lunch, we sang songs and all the teachers also joined with us. I think that we never forget this picnic. Anyway, I don’t want you to feel any more jealous. I wish your best health and recovery soon.

Yours sincerely

11. Write a letter to a friend living in a different state describing the places of tourist in your state.

Ramesh

Hassan

Date : …………

Dear Prakash

You have in your letter enquired about the places of tourist attraction in Karnataka. It is not possible for me to mention all of them here as they are too many in number. Bangalore itself is a magnificent metropolis richly embllished by its majestic buildings, colourful parks and gardens, places of entertainment, grand five star hotels and restaurants, and mammoth industrial establishements. The city will certainly be a big attraction for you. The adjoining city of Mysore offers you greater attractions. The world famous Brindavan Gardens is verily a sight for the Gods to see. Situated nearby is Srirangapatna, remarkable for its historical associations. The Chamundi Hill on the way never fails to enrapture the tourist.

The temples of Belur and Halebidu should on no account be missed by you, they are often refferred to as lovely lyrics in granite stone. And the Jog falls will certainly capture your heart and soul. I cannot add anything more, the list will be long and unending.

Yours sincerely

Sir,

Sub: Impact of Uncleared garbage in our locality

As a concerned resident of N.R. Colony, I would like to draw your attention to the poor condition of our street, that is, Model House Street. This is the only road connecting N.R Colony with Basavanagudi. After this road was relaid about two years ago, nothing has been done for its upkeep. Though the municipal workers fill the potholes now and then, the effect is only temporary. There are potholes every few metres. During the rainy season these become muddy pools of water. Driving on the road, especially at night, is dangerous A few accidents have occurred already.

1 request you to look into the matter and take necessary action without any delay.

Thanking you,

15. Write a letter to your friend expressing your preferences for outdoor games.

Kolara,

Dear Charitha,

I have just returned from school and have sat down to write to you without wasting a minute. This is the result of my guilt of not having replied your letter which reached me a week ago.

How are you? Do you still play Chess? Do you know something? I have started playing Tennis regularly. I really prefer outdoor games to indoor games. The exercise makes me hungry and tired and I eat and sleep well…..In spite of that I have not put on weight as the physical activity keeps me fit. In this time of mass media, we have all turned into couch potatoes in front of TV. This has turned us into aggressive, unhealthy individuals ready to fight and ready to abuse. If we have to ensure that we watch. T V. in moderation and use computers wisely, we must have the pleasure of outdoor games. Do you play one? Please start if you haven’t already.

Do write when time permits.

I bring to your notice that in our locality the nuisance of street dogs at night has turned out to be a bigger problem than the fear of thieves. There have been quite a few cases of unsuspecting passers-by being bitten by street dogs. We, the residents of this area, have lodged complaints a number of times. But, no action has been taken date.

Can we hope that you will heed our voice and make arrangements mmediately to rid our locality of the nuisance of street dogs?

Dear Uncle,

What a pleasant surprise it was to receive your gift cheque for Rs.5000′ In fact, on my birthday I was a little depressed as Mummy and Daddy were away at Bangalore attending a wedding and although they wished me on the phone. I had not received any gift from anyone So, when your gift came by post. I was overjoyed. It was indeed a very special gift as it was the only gift I received on my birthday. I don’t know how to express my very earnest gratitude I hope I will be able to do something special for you sometime.

I’m wondering what I should buy with the amount. I want to buy something that would be with me throughout. I don’t want to buy clothes or other items which would wear out. I want to buy, probably a precious stone which I will eventually set in gold. After I go shopping and buy the gift I will write to you again.

Thanks a tonne
