Those who enters Hanif’s house’ they were welcome by his smile. But this smile was confined in the picture frame. Lieute£Àent Hanifuddin was young martyr, He sacrificed his life during kargil war, at the age of 25 years. He loved his work and was happy all the time.
2. What did hanif choose as his mission? Why did he do so?
During his training at the IMA. He changed gentle to dedicated soldier. Perhaps Hanifuddin knew that his life was so short and he needed to repeatedly remind himself of his mission. Though he came from a family of musicians, he decided to changed the lives, so he joined the army or choosed this mission to serve our nation.

ಹನೀಫ್ ಉದ್ದೀನ್ರವರ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋದರೆ ಅವರ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಗು ನಗುತ್ತಾ ಸ್ವಾಗತಿಸುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಆ ನಗು, ಸ್ವಾಗತ ಎಲ್ಲವೂ ಭಾವಚಿತ್ರದ ಒಳಗೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅಡಕವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವರ ನೆನಪಿನಿಂದ ಶೋಕ ತಪ್ತವಾದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಹೃದಯ ನಿಟ್ಟುಸಿರಿನಿಂದ ಕೊನೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಅವರು ಕಾರ್ಗಿಲ್ ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವವನ್ನು ದೇಶಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಸಮರ್ಪಿಸಿದರು. ಕಾರ್ಗಿಲ್ನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಟರ್ತಕ್ ವಿಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಈಗ “ಹನೀಪ್ ಸಬ್-ಸೆಕ್ಟರ್” ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇದು ಅವರ ವೀರತೆಗೆ ಸಂದ ಗೌರವ.
ಹನೀಫ್ ಉದ್ದೀನ್ರನ್ನು ಅವರ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ‘ಖಲೀಫಾ’ ಎಂದು ಕರೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಬಹುಶಃ ಮೊದಲೇ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಇವನು ದೇಶಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ತ್ಯಾಗ ಮಾಡುವ ಮುನ್ಸೂಚನೆ ಇರಬಹುದು. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಹನೀಷ್ಮನು ಸಂಗೀತಗಾರನ ವಂಶದಿಂದ ಬಂದವನು. ಯಾರೂ ಅವನು ಮಿಲಿಟರಿ ಅಥವಾ ಸೈನ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರುವನು ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಹನೀಫ್ನಿಗೆ ತಾನು ಅಲ್ಪಾಯು ಎಂಬುದರ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರಬಹುದೇನೋ ಎನ್ನುವಂತೆ ಅನಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಏನನ್ನಾದರೂ ಸಾಧಿಸಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸೇರಿರಬಹುದು. ಅವನ ವಸ್ತುಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯೆ ದೊರೆತ ಒಂದು ಕಾರ್ಡ್ನಲ್ಲಿ “ನಾವು ಜೀವನವನ್ನು ಬದಲಾಯಿಸಬೇಕು” ಎಂಬ ಹೇಳಿಕೆಯಿಂದ, ಅವನ ಉದ್ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಊಹಿಸಬಹುದು.
ಹನೀಫನಿಗೆ ಕಷ್ಟ ಎಂಬುದು ಅತಿ ಸಣ್ಣ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಿಂದಲೇ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು. 8 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತಂದೆ ತೀರಿಹೋದರು. ಅವರ ತಂದೆ ನ್ಯಾಷನಲ್ ಸ್ಕೂಲ್ ಆಫ್ ಡ್ರಾಮಾ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಲಾವಿದರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ತಾಯಿ ಹೇಮಾ ಅಸೀಜ್ ಇನ್ಫರ್ಮೇಷ್ನ ಮತ್ತು ಬಾಡ್ ಕಾಸ್ಟಿಂಗ್ ಮಿನಿಸ್ಟ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಡುಗಾರಿಕಾ ಕಲಾವಿದೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರು ಕೆಲಸದ ಮೇಲೆ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಬೇರೆ ಬೇರೆ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಬೇಕಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಹನೀಫನೇ ತನ್ನ ಮೂವರು ತಮ್ಮಂದಿರನ್ನು ನೋಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅವರ ತಾಯಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಸ್ವಾವಲಂಬಿಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನು ತಾಯಿಯಿಂದ ಹೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ತಾಯಿಯ ಅನುಪಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬರಿಗೂ ಅವರವರ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯವೇ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಎಂಬ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ಕಾರ್ಗಿಲ್ ಯುದ್ಧದ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ, ಈ ದುರಂತ ಸಂಭವಿಸಿದಾಗ ಅವರ ಅಣ್ಣ ನವದೆಹಲಿಯ ಜೆ.ಡಿ. ಟೈಲರ್ ಶಾಲೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪಾಧ್ಯಾಯರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ತಮ್ಮ ಕ್ಯಾಸಿಯೋನಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಗೀತವನ್ನು ರಚಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಹನೀಫ್ರು ಆಗಾಗ ತಮ್ಮನ ಜೊತೆ ಡ್ರಮ್ಸ್ನ್ನು ಬಾರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಹನೀಫ್ರು ಯಾರ ಜೊತೆಯೂ ಬೆರೆಯದೆ (introvert) ಅಂತರ್ಮುಖಿಯಾಗಿರುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
14ನೇ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭಿಸಿದರು. ಸದಾಕಾಲ ಬೇರೆಯವರಿಗೆ ಸಹಾಯ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅದು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ನೀಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಅವರು ಸತ್ತ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವರ ಸೀನಿಯರ್ಸ್ ಇಂತಹ ಗುಣಗಳ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅವರ ತಾಯಿಯ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರು. ಹನೀಫ್ ಸತ್ತಾಗ ಸಂತಾಪವನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸಲು ಬಂದ 77 ವರ್ಷದ ಮುದುಕ, ಅವರು ಸೂಫೀಸಮ್ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಒಂದು ತಮ್ಮ ಹತ್ತಿರ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ವಿಷಯ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.
ಹನೀಫ್ರು ನವದೆಹಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಕೇರಳ ಶಾಲೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ನವದೆಹಲಿಯ ಶಿವಾಜಿ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮ ಗ್ರಾಜ್ಯುಯೇಷನ್ ಮುಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸೇರಲು ಅಪ್ಲಿಕೇಷನ್ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದರು. ಆಗ ಹನೀಫ್ರಿಗೆ ಸೈನ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಅಷ್ಟೇನೂ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವರ ತಾಯಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಅವರು ಆರ್ಮಡ್ ಫೋರಸ್ (Armed forces) ಮನರಂಜನಾ ವಿಭಾಗಕ್ಕೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಕೊಡಲು ಹೋದಾಗ ತಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದ ವಿಷಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದು ಅಷ್ಟೇ ಗೊತ್ತು. ಬೇರೆ ಯಾವ ರೀತಿಯ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯೂ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಗೊತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವರು ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
ಹನೀಫ್ರು IMA ನಲ್ಲಿ ಆರು ತಿಂಗಳ ತರಬೇತಿಯನ್ನು ಪಡೆದ ಮೇಲೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರಾಗಿ ಪರಿವರ್ತಿತರಾದರು. ಆ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತರಬೇತಿ ಎಷ್ಟು ಕಷ್ಟಕರವಾಗಿರುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದರೆ ‘ಮನ್ಸೂರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿ ಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿದಂತೆ’ ಎಂದು ಪತ್ರ ಮುಖೇನ ತಿಳಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಹೇಮಾ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಗ ಅವರು ಅದನ್ನು ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಣ್ಣೀರಿನ ಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿದಂತಿರ ಬಹುದು ಎಂದುಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೆ ಎಂದು ನೆನಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವರು. ಟ್ರೈನಿಂಗ್ನ ನಂತರ ರಾಜಪುಟಾನ್ ರೈಫಲ್ 11ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರ ಸೇರ್ಪಡೆಯಾಗಿ ನಂತರ ಜೈಪುರ, ಸಾಯಿಚನ್ ಮುಂತಾದ ಕಡೆ ವರ್ಗವಾಗಿ 1999ರಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಗಿಲ್ಗೆ ಬಂದು ‘ಕಾರ್ಗಿಲ್ ವಾರ್’ನಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋರಾಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹನೀಫನಿಗೆ ಜೀವನವೆಂಬುದು ಏಕ್ದಂ ಬಿಂದಾಸ್ ಅವರು ಚಿತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಸೈಜ್ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಹಳೆಯ ವಸ್ತುಗಳಿಂದ ಸುಂದರವಾದ ಕಾರ್ಡ್ಗಳನ್ನು ತಯಾರಿಸುವುದು, ತಬಲ ಬಾರಿಸುವುದು ಇತ್ಯಾದಿ ಅವರ ಹವ್ಯಾಸವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ನವದೆಹಲಿಯಿಂದ ರಾಜ್ ರಿಫ್ಟ್ ಟೀಮಿನವರು. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಂಗೀತ ವಾದನಗಳನ್ನು ತರಿಸಿ ಹನೀಫ್-7 ಎಂಬ ಸಂಗೀತ ಗುಂಪನ್ನು ಅವರ ನೆನಪಿಗಾಗಿ ರಚಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಹನೀಫರು ತಮ್ಮ ತಾಯಿಯೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಾನ್ ಸಿಂಗ್ ಪೋಸ್ಟ್ ಎನ್ನುವುದನ್ನು ನಾನಾಸಿಂಗರ ವೀರ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವದ ನೆನಪಿಗಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ಕನಸಿನಂತೆ ಅವರು ಅತ್ಯುನ್ನತ ರಾಂಕ್ ಗಳಿಸಲು ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ಸಮಯವಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದರೂ ಅವರ ಹೆಸರಿನ ಸಬ್-ಸೆಕ್ಟರ್ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವರ ಕನಸು (ಆಸೆ) ಈಡೇರಿದಂತಾಯಿತು.
